Hey Family!
This week was an interesting week to say the least. It
was a hard week, but you find good out of it. This week was us going to
square one again and just trying to make something happen out here. It
was 108 this week for most of the days so I am just busy dripping sweat and
getting my tan on. I love the heat, and I am going to be sad when I have
to leave it behind. We managed to find a new contact this week with all
our hard work. I was doing backflips when we came in contact with
him. It was an answer to my prayers. I am sacred to turn a year old
if you can believe it. I love New Mexico and the people out here.
It’s been a great experience, and I am scared to see how fast this year
goes. It’s June, and that's just weird to me! But this week was a
good one but a hard, testing week.
Hector and Denise didn't show up to church again, and I was
a little bit frustrated. I get this far with people, and then everything
just goes to mush. We called them, and they told us they were having
problems with the car and hadn't got it fixed. Their transmission got way
screwed up. When we offered them a ride
they had to wait for a person to come and fix it. I was kind of
frustrated, and it put a damper on the day. I was praying most of the day
to figure out what to do with them and thinking about them a lot. We
showed up that night with a member named Obispo Coffman. He is a really
awesome member. We talked about tithing, and Obispo helped out a
lot. We reset a date for July 5th, and this one is now solid
as a rock. She made sure it was on her calendar and also wrote down the
Stake Conference date. They want to come
to conference so we are trying to get them a ride. They also told us,
well Obispo brought it up, that they have a child who is 11 and can also be
baptized. Now they want him to get
baptized. So in this whole swing of things we are going to get 3 people
baptized this July 5. I'm excited.
We found a new contact this week named Juan. We went
to a less active member’s house, and his little girl came out from the backyard
and told us he wasn't home. I then suggested that we go walk
around. We walked down a road that allows you to see into the backyard,
and sure enough, he was there just avoiding us. We kept walking and saw a
guy in his yard. We tried talking to him, but he didn't want it. My
companion spotted one last dude, and it was Juan. Right when we walked up
he told us to sit down and start teaching him. He has some problems in his life
right now. He is going through a divorce and he has been looking for God
more in his life. He has been praying to God this whole week for help,
and by the end of the week we showed up, so that was tight. We tried
going back last week but he wasn't there. Hopefully we will catch him
during the week.
We also went to another less active member’s house this
Saturday. He had someone doing some
electric work, and he told us he just left to go to his house to pay someone. Right then he knocked on the door, and it
turned out to be Javier Zavala, the less active who has been avoiding us. It was super awkward for him. He said “hi”
and kind of moved away from us. It was a God working his wonderful
power. It was weird too because as we drove to the less active’s house we
were talking about him, and he turned out to be there! We also had this less
active named Pablo call us last night around 10. We have been trying to
get ahold of him, but it’s been just cold. We went to his house during
the week to see him, and he was there but didn't answer. He has been
recovering from drugs, mostly coke, and drinking. He called us last night,
and he was drunk and on drugs. He was telling us to get our white rich
a$$es over there and give him some money because he is out of money. He
was using words that never should be repeated. We walked over to Cesar
Medina, whose house is right in front of ours, for help because he knows him
super well. He just listened and told us to say goodbye and hang
up. He was super hammered on who knows what. Cesar was sad to see
it as well, and he hoped he was going to make it through the night. He
told us that is the worst he has seen him. So hopefully our man Pablo
made it through the night and didn't OD. Hopefully we will see him this
week. But that was my week in a nutshell. We also dealt with a
drunk at a less active’s house who then needed us to help a friend move a
freezer. That was an adventure. It
was funny to see a super drunk man try and move a freezer, but we helped him
out. It was a good week!
Thanks for all you emails and
everything! I got the pictures, and I loved them! Give Ella a hug
for me! That's awesome Tyler kicked some butt this week! He is
probably going to be a stud this year in football! I am sad I have to
miss it! Keep it up dude! I hope you guys have a wonderful week. Know that I love you tons, and you’re always
in my prayers! Keep it steezy for me, and Go Giants!!
Love.
