Hey Guys!
This week was a pretty good week. It’s been really
hard lately because we can't find anyone. We have knocked and everything,
and nothing is working for us on the investigator front. We haven't found
a new one in 3 weeks. So it’s been kind of bad. We are though
kicking some booty with less actives. We are having more success with
them than investigators. We got 7 less actives to church this week, and
that was radtastic. It was like a baptism for me. Two of them were
people that haven't come since the Ice Ages, so it was sweet. We are just
trying to plug along at the grind and try and get new investigators. I am
hoping they don't close the area, so we are just trying to hit it out here.
This week, like I said, was hard but good. Missionary
work wouldn't be missionary work if it wasn't hard. I think I have
stressed more in this area than I have in my past areas. Nothing works
for us in terms of investigators work. The less active work is really
strong here. We have 30 people who usually come on Sunday's and have a
ward list of a 140. So like half the ward is less active. I think I
told you that our old branch presidente and his family are less active.
We have been working really hard with them to get them to come back. His
wife is crazy and has been hiding from us. She finally came out of her
"Cave" as she called it this week, and that was sweet. We
finally got talking with her and everything. We got her to come to church
this week, and that was sweet! Presidente Ramirez, her husband, didn't
come because he wants to look like the bad guy instead of his wife because she
is the reason they have gone less active. It was a Christmas miracle when
she came strutting in the church. I was relieved. We now are
working with presidente to get him back, and then we are golden. The
other lady who came has been super less active too, but we took Presidente
Portillo over this week. We got her to commit to church, and she
came. It was awesome. We are just trying to reactive some of these
members, and we are hoping that by doing this it will bring some
investigators. It’s been tough but good.
I am holding up as well. I had my first district
meeting this week, and it went well. I still have no clue what the heck I
am doing, but I am just going at it. It’s been good. I shared some
football memories of dad telling me to be the hammer not the nail in drills,
and they enjoyed it. I miss those days with dad, Coach Mosley, and the
crew. They were good days. Not much else happened this week, and
sorry this is a quick letter. I don't know what to write about. I
got the CD's so thanks a million! I loved them! Oh ya - we are back
on page with Margaret Vargas. She has been hiding from us and just
dropped off the face of the earth. We caught her at home, and she asked
for us to come back. We went back and taught her and asked again if she
wanted to be baptized. We kind of just laid down the law with her.
She told us she would have an answer for us by Thursday. So hopefully she
pulls through. I think she will make it. But that was pretty much
my week!
It sounded like an adventure at
home this week. Meth heads coming for money and everything! It
sounded like the mission and dealing with drug people! That sounds like
an awesome trip in Zions I wish I could have gone. It’s been heating up
here. It got into the 90's last week,
and I am rocking a tan. Haha. I hope Scotty kicks some butt on the
MCAT. You will do awesome, and hopefully Sean’s surgery goes well.
I hope you guys have a wonderful week, and keep it steezy for me! Miss you
guys, and you’re in my prayers! Love ya!
Love,
-Elder Smith
