Hey Family!

It sounds like everyone is in one piece at home.  That's good Sherm’s surgery went well on his knee.  It sounded brutal.  It also sounded like everyone is in one piece at home and all is well.   I am doing good and in one piece.  It’s been hard work up here in Chaparral, but it’s good work.  Easter for me was just another day in the mission.  It's crazy how on the mission holidays feel like just normal days.  We had a good turnout at church.  I swear we just need to make it Easter every Sunday, and all these less-active members would show up.  But it was a good day, and I enjoyed it.  My week was a lot better than the past weeks, so that was good.

This week we finally found three new investigators, which is rad-badly.  I was finally happy to find some news and start teaching them.  Two of the news are a family, and their names are Hector and Denise.  They were a referral from Canutillo.  My man Elder Folsom and his greenie talked to them on the street and referred them over to us.   Hector is from Puerto Rico, and his Spanish is nuts.  His wife is from Mexico, and they are a cool family.  They have kids who are just funny and they love handshakes.  They are looking for something more in their life, and they are having problems with their Christian Church that they are going too.  Our first discussion with them was about the Book of Mormon and how it’s here to bless our lives.  Denise asked why we are called Mormons, and we went off and told them why.  They loved it and loved the thought that God talks to all and that we have another book.  We also taught them the Plan because they had some questions about that.  They are a super cool family and definitely will progress.  They are sweet.  The other new investigator is a guy we talked to on the street.  His name is Rafael Ramirez, and we taught him right there about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He invited us back, but when we went he wasn't there so we will see where that goes.

We had some success with our less-actives, like usual.  We have a family who is almost completely back.  It is the Gernados family.  The wife and one of the daughters are still less-active.  The dad and the daughter come almost every week.  He changed his trucking schedule, and it freed up Sundays.  We just stop by here and there for support.  The ex-branch president’s wife came again this week.  She also stayed for all 3 hours, which was a plus.  He should be coming next week, so that is going to be awesome when he does.  It will definitely boost the ward up and everything.  We have been working really hard with him.  We also have been working with this other family, and they are slowly coming back.  They have come the past two times, so that is rad-tastic.  We also had a lady show up who hasn't been forever.  Her name is Hermana Espinoza.  Her husband works on Sundays so he can't come, but she did.  That was really cool to see her there, and we sat by her.  It was a good Sunday, and it was a beautiful day as well in Chaparral.  I also went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders this week.  I was an English missionary for the day, and that was weird.  I had a fun time in an English area and being in the city, but I do love the boonies and just being away from the world.  It was a really good week and fun to see the success of some less-actives.

Um I am not really sure what I can add to the address with the ward.  Just express my love and deep thanks for all the support.  I love our home ward, and there are such great people in it.  I think you guys got it down better than I could.

Thanks for all the emails this week.  I loved them all.  I hope you guys have a wonderful week and it’s full of fun.  I know without a doubt Scotty will kill the MCAT.  You have a mind for the stuff, duder, and you are probably going to do a lot better on that than I could ever do.  Don't stress, man, just know that the Lord will be with you, and he is going to help you.  You helped him in Guatemala, and he will help you here.  You’ll do great - I know it.  Sherm, good luck with you knee and take care of it!  I can't wait to see Sean and Andrea's baby - that will be sweet!  Nice work with the houses Wendy!  I hope your week is great, and I love you guys a lot!  You're in my prayers!  Have a wonderful week!

Love,

-Elder Smith
