Hey Family!

It sounds like you’re all in one piece at home and doing good.  I can’t believe that Tyler is now in high school and going to the Homecoming Dance.  I remember I didn't go to a dance till the spring....I guess I just didn't have the guts like Tyler.  Way to go man, and nice job being voted a captain of the sophomore football team.  You'll be a great leader for that team.  Just lead by example, dude, and you will do great things.  It also sounds like everything is going good at home, and everyone is still kicking it.  I am doing good - just plugging away out here in ABQ.  It’s hard at times, but I truly love it here.  Driving around and just looking into the city is just awesome.  I think the Lord knew that I would love Albuquerque for some odd reason, but it’s such a great city.  I think I write that every week, but it’s awesome out here and just super green and beautiful.  Our investigators are doing good.  We saw some miracles happen, and it was awesome.  It was a great week and fun.

This week was busy.  We had a lot going on this week, and it seemed some days we didn't have much success.  We had this awesome miracle happen to us this week.  A member, Hermano Munoz, told us that he needed to talk to us about something that he talked to the stake president or bishop about.  I was just thinking in my head what we did wrong or something.  We stopped by once at his house, but he was showering so we had to wait till the next day to talk to him.  We went over the next day, and he came in the room.  His mom and son were on the couch, and we asked what he needed to talk to us about.  He told us that he wanted to teach his son, who is 14 and just moved here from Mexico.  It was a super cool experience because it showed us he trusted us with his son, and he wants the same happiness for his son.  We were both stunned afterwards because it was what we needed out here, someone who want to progress and grow.  His son is pretty awesome.  His name is Yamil, and he is truly seeking for the truth.  We had a great lesson with him at the church yesterday.  It was cool to see how the Lord works.  I had a cool miracle happen to me also.  Sunday was hard, and I was down in the dumps.  We were working hard this week but we didn't have that many lessons.   Sunday was just a struggle and hard, so we were trying everything.  We were in this gated community, and we only had 3 people we could potentially see in there.  We stopped by the first person’s home, and she told us to come back in 2 weeks because she was going to be busy during this week.  We started walking over to another lady's house.  Her name is Mercedes.  We haven't been able to see her for the whole time I have been here.  I was praying the whole time until we got to the door that she would be there and she would let us in to teach her.  We knocked, and sure enough she was home.  She let us in, and we had a super good lesson with her.  She really liked it.  We left, and I was relieved.  It was an answer to my prayers and taught me that everything is possible when you rely on the Lord.  Also, while reading this week in The Book of Mormon, I stumbled on a scripture that Moroni wrote and I really like it. It is Mormon 9:19: And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.  I liked that scripture a lot when I read it because God is still God, and he is still going to make miracles happen.  You just need to rely on him, and everything is possible when you do.  We also have an investigator who is the cousin of a less active member who is from Ecuador.  The member is super old, but he gets the sacrament delivered to him.  We see him often and teach his cousin.   He seems really interested and searching, but he has always seemed weird to me for some reason.  At church this Sunday a member came up to us after Ward Council and told us to just be careful around him because he is very smart and he got kicked out of the United States once because he was writing anti-government books.  So wish us luck with that one!  He might have changed, but we will see.  He came to church, and that was cool.  Other than those people, it’s been the same old out here.  That was my week for ya!

It sounds like everything is in one piece at home, and that's good.  I miss home a lot, but I love it out here.  It is making me sad how fast the mission goes by, but it’s all good.  Life moves on, and you can’t stop life's train.  It’s been a great ride so far, and nothing but an adventure!  I hope you guys have a wonderful week, Sean lands a new job he wants, and Scott finishes up his applications for med school!  Keep kicking butt, Tyler!  Thanks for all you do for me, and I hope you have a wonderful week!  Keep it steezy for me.  You are in my prayers!

Love,

-Elder Smith
