Mom and Dad,
This is going to be a quick email but I made it
safely to ABQ. It’s nothing but desert and more desert. I am
in a little city in Texas right by the borders of Texas, New Mexico, and Mexico
called Canutillo, near Anthony, Texas. Mexico is outside my window every
morning, and I see a lot of border patrol around. We live in a house that
is white with red shutters, kind of on a dirt road. It is nice, with a big shower, so that is
good. It kind of feels like Mexico, but
you teach families that are Spanish and English. There are a lot of
trailer parks, and my city has drug lords that have a lot of dough and build
crazy mansions but not in my area. I
mostly have shacks and trailer homes but a few regular type homes. My
first dinner of the mission was in a shack.
It was awesome. My trainer is
from Alaska, and his name is Elder Bryan Mason. He is pretty cool.
I still have no clue what I am doing, so hopefully that will change fast and
hopefully the Spanish will come. My p-day is on Monday so you should hear
from me then. Oh, you can send me packages and mail to PO Box 1697
Anthony, Texas 88021. It’s been raining really hard down here so I
got some stories for you! It is hot but it has been raining every day, and it’s
nuts when it rains. The lightning is
insane too. Last night there was a bolt
going off every second, and a couple days ago we were driving on a street that
was a river. We have a car because our
area is big. Love you tons and miss
you!!
Con mucho amor,
-Elder Smith
