Familia,
I
was so stoked to write you and to have p-day come this week. I just am sitting
waiting for my clothes to dry and so I thought I better write you. This
week has been nuts as usual. I think I had the hardest day at the MTC
this week. It sounds like everything is going good at home and everyone
is in one piece. I am in one piece also, which is a good thing. I
still can’t believe I have almost lasted 3 weeks down here at the MTC. It’s
weird to think how fast things go here. This week was crazy like I stated
above. I think it was on Monday when I broke an Elder’s arm in
Basketball. Haha! I shouldn't laugh but he tripped on my shoe in
basketball and hit the court hard. Once he hit I grabbed him right back
up. I thought he was fine and he would shake it off. But I was
sitting in class and I looked out the door and he had a sling around him.
I was scared to go up to him but I manned up and talked to him. He
was totally cool about it and didn't care that he tripped on my foot. He
said it could happen to anyone. It turns out he broke his elbow. So
yep that’s one thing that happened to me this week.
During one of or class sessions we were taught by this dude
at the MTC while our teacher took notes. His Spanish I couldn't understand at
all. It was weird because I usually pick up words or sentences
sometimes but with this guy I couldn't pick up on anything. I felt like I
was more in a Spanish class rather than learning with the spirit and being
taught that way. I came out of that class with my brain fried to the
max. I couldn't focus the rest of the day. After that guy taught we
had dinner. But after dinner we had class with our awesome sister teacher
Hermana McKay. I think I told you in my first letter about the investigator
we were teaching. She turned out to be our teacher and she is awesome
beyond belief. She has made class so much better and I love being taught
by her but it turns out she is leaving us for the Mexico MTC so we had to say
goodbye to her yesterday and that sucked. I was happy when that day was
over because it was the worst. And it turned out no one in the
class could understand that guy. I had to laugh because he
didn't carry the spirit at all just a head full of crazy Spanish
that he tried to make us learn. I was happy when he walked out
of that class room. That was probably the worst day I have
had at the MTC. But I got a blessing that night when the
District Leader got the mail and there was a letter to me from Nate
Adams. As I was reading it, it was exactly how I was
feeling at the moment. It's crazy how you get things at the
right time that you need right then. It helped me out a lot
and he is a stud and he would be a great Bishop.
Sorry I had to stop writing for a minute
because I had to get my laundry. But the rest of the
week was pretty normal. Just hard work every day and trying to take a whack
at the language. Also this week on Sunday a branch
presidency member Brother Jeffs asked if he could talk with
me and I said sure. He sat me down and called me to be in charge
of the Sacrament on Sunday. I accepted, so it looks like I have
to organize the Sacrament on Sunday and make sure people are able to say
the Sacrament prayer in Spanish when I can hardly say it. So I'll
let you know how that goes for me. I know the Lord called me to do it
for a reason so I am excited to see why. Elder Hurren and Elder
Rodriguez are such cool dudes. I wish you could meet them. It's
awesome to see how our personalities go so well together and we are all in the
same room. The Lord definitely put us together for a reason.
Tessa sent me some cookies and they were the
best. I am sending her a letter today to thank her. I have
been really busy and haven’t had the chance but I will for sure today send
her one. She is an awesome girl and can you tell her thanks as
well from me? That’s awesome that Jake V gave an awesome
talk. I knew he would deliver. I miss him and every one of my
friends, but I have made some new ones down here. Give my friends
some love from me and tell them I miss them. That’s
awesome Tessa stopped by to loan you a movie. I'll send Daney
a note because it sounds like he needs a note. Oh I saw my
mission president one last time before he left for New Mexico and he got a
picture with all the Elders in my District who are going to New
Mexico. He gave me a hug and a pat on the back and he told us
he can’t wait to work with us. Yes my companion is going to New
Mexico and all the Elders in my room. The Hermanas in
my District are going to Alabama. But I am doing
great! I can’t wait to hear from you guys again! Have an awesome
week and just know you’re in my prayers and I miss you
guys. Keep it steezy at home for me! You guys are the best!
Keep spreading the Stinny Love!
Love,
Elder Smith
