Hey guys!

This week was just a normal week.  Not much happened to us this week.  I was battling a cold most of the week, and then I passed it to my comp.  So we were both under the weather a little bit.  Thanks for the packages and everything!  I loved them both, and they cheered me up!  It’s crazy how much you miss you family and friends while you’re gone, but it’s all good.  You realize on you mission that birthdays are just another day.  It’s weird to be finally 19.  I don't feel any older, just fatter.  It’s crazy how the time has flown on the mission.  It seems like yesterday that it was my first day in the MTC taking a shower and just wondering what I had gotten myself into.  But it’s been a good ride.  It’s weird that I could be home in just a year and this is my last summer on the mission.  I never thought I would make it this far, but I have loved every second of it.  It’s been the best thing for my life so far.  I am now convinced that I am going to only serve in 4 areas my whole mission.  I am happy about that.  My week was definitely good.  I am happy about the birth of Ella.  I can't wait to see her, and that's going to be a cool surprise when I get home.  I am happy Andrea made it through ok.  It sounded like it was a crazy experience.  I am happy to have a baby in the house now.  That will be fun, and Beary and Charlie are going to love it!

This week was good but hard like usual.  It kind of was sad and just nothing was going right.  Hector and Denise didn't make it to church this week again.  When we went to go teach them Sunday they weren't home.  We caught up with them Monday night, and they told us they went to a party all day.  So that was a bummer.  Denise's nephew’s wife was in child birth as well this week, and she was like 2 seconds away from dying.  She said a little prayer asking God to save her life if she needed to be baptized, and she lived.  So that was a miracle, and she is very commit to baptism.  We talked to them about the importance of attending church and committed them to come this Sunday.  They said yes, so hopefully they will make it again. The old branch president pretty much dropped us and told us not to come to his house again.  We have been trying really hard to see him over the weekend, and we finally caught him at home yesterday.  They gave us some chicken, and we ate.  He then went into rant mode and told us that the church can’t fix his problems, only he can, and all this crap.  He told us not to come and knock his house door ever again, but if he is in his shop we can talk for a bit.  Those visits in his shop only last 2 seconds.  He has a heart of gold, but the person who is tearing at it is his wife.  She has been the problem since the first day.  She is crazy and just not a good person.  So that put a damper on my day yesterday.  I hate seeing people go down the path that leads straight to Satan, and you can’t do anything about it.  All you can is pray and hope all works out.  I hate Satan - he is terrible.  He gave us hugs as a kind of farewell, and he was tearing up at the end.  His wife was sitting in the corner reading something the whole time.  She wouldn't even shake our hands, and I was mad about that.  She was just nodding her head the whole time presidente was talking.  She is straight-up evil.  So that was the downer of the week.  But everyone else is doing well.  Those were the highlights of the week.

My birthday was good.  I got you package that night, so that was a great surprise.  I got donuts for the district, so thanks for that.  A member got me a cake, and it was good.  It was a fun day, and I was thinking about you guys.  Thanks for all the support and everything!

It sounds like this week was good, and that's awesome Ella is doing good!  She looked like a stud and a great new member to the family!  I can't wait to hang out with her!   I hope you guys have a wonderful week, and give Ella a hello and a hug from me!  I am so excited to meet her!  Thanks for everything, and have a great week!  Love you guys tons, and you’re in my prayers!

Love,

-Elder Smith
